role is $133,000 - $221,700 annually. The target range for this
position is $175,000 to $200,000. We generally base our salary
decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work
and/leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some
cases, candidate work location.Summary: The Principal Systems
Engineer will be responsible for leading the technical development
and integration of large, complex systems, driving innovation, and
ensuring all system components function harmoniously to meet
customer and business objectives. This role involves system
architecture design, troubleshooting, mentoring junior engineers,
and contributing to the overall strategy and vision of the
engineering team.ResponsibilitiesSystems Design and Architecture:
- Lead the design and architecture of complex systems, ensuring
all components (hardware, software, and subsystems) integrate
seamlessly.
- Develop system-level specifications and ensure alignment with
product and business goals.Integration and Testing:
- Oversee system integration activities, ensuring all system
components work together effectively.
- Define and lead comprehensive system testing strategies to
validate functionality, performance, and reliability.Continuous
Improvement:
- Contribute to the improvement of engineering processes, tools,
and methodologies.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and incorporate
best practices to enhance system design and development.Problem
Solving and Optimization:
- Troubleshoot complex systems issues, diagnose root causes, and
implement corrective actions.
- Continuously assess and optimize system performance,
reliability, and efficiencyTechnical Guidance and Mentorship:
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior systems
engineers.
- Lead technical reviews, set best practices, and contribute to
career development for engineering team members.Collaboration with
Stakeholders:
- Collaborate with internal teams (product, quality assurance,
manufacturing, etc.) and external partners to ensure systems meet
business requirements and customer expectations.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other departments
when needed.Documentation and Reporting:
- Ensure thorough and accurate documentation of system designs,
configurations, tests, and procedures.
- Present technical findings to leadership and stakeholders
clearly and effectively.Project Leadership:
- Lead cross-functional teams, guiding system engineers, software
engineers, hardware engineers, and other stakeholders through
system development processes.
- Ensure project timelines and milestones are met while managing
risks and challenges.Other duties as
assignedQualificationsEducation/Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer
Engineering, or a related technical field. Relevant certifications
are a plus.
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, with a
demonstrated ability to lead and deliver complex systems projects.
Experience in system architecture, integration, and validation is
essential.Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:The Principal Systems Engineer
role responsible for overseeing the design, development, and
integration of complex systems, ensuring that all parts work
together to meet both technical and business requirements. This
role is highly strategic, involving cross-functional collaboration,
problem-solving, and leadership in systems engineering
efforts.Required Skills:
- Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of systems
engineering principles, lifecycle management, and integration of
hardware and software components. Expertise in system modeling
automation tools, cloud methodologies, and relevant infrastructure
standards.
- Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving
skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges and
develop effective solutions.
- Project Management: Strong organizational and project
management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities,
timelines, and teams.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal
communication skills, with the ability to explain complex systems
concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership: Proven leadership and mentoring experience, with
the ability to guide cross-functional teams and support their
professional development.Preferred Skills:
- Certifications in relevant areas such as Automation, Enterprise
Terraform, Ansible Tower, Gitlab, Github
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure tools and native
management solutions.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to data management
and data privacy.
- Demonstrated ability to be productive and produce quality
results in a dynamic work environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Exceptional work ethic and time management skills, ability to
work well independently and as part of a team, good prioritization
skills, excellent analysis and troubleshooting skills with a strong

- On call after hours is necessary for problem resolution, and
